Trip Sheet (Trip Register)
Also searched as: trip sheet meaning · trip register · truck trip sheet · trip expense
A trip sheet is the record of one truck trip: date, route, party, LR numbers, freight earned, and the expenses of the trip such as diesel, toll and driver advance. Owners and brokers use it to see what each trip actually earned after costs.
Detailed Explanation & Statutory Rules
Without a trip sheet, it is hard to know whether a truck made money. The sheet adds freight on one side and trip costs on the other: diesel, toll or FASTag, driver bhatta, loading and unloading hamali, police or RTO payments and repairs. What remains is the trip profit, and over a month it shows which routes and parties are worth taking.
In Bilty, a trip's expenses are recorded by kind (driver advance, diesel, toll, loading or hamali, police or RTO, repair, other) with the date and mode of payment, so each load shows its own cost and margin.
Practical Indian Freight Example
"For illustration: a Surat to Indore trip earns ₹42,000 freight. Costs: diesel ₹19,500, toll ₹3,200, driver bhatta ₹2,000, hamali ₹1,500. Total costs ₹26,200, so the trip profit is ₹15,800 before the truck's fixed costs."
