Kanta parchi is the slip printed by a weighbridge (dharam kanta) after a truck is weighed. In English it is a weighbridge slip or weighment slip. It shows the vehicle number, the gross (loaded) weight, the tare (empty) weight and the net weight of the goods, and is the proof used when freight is charged by weight.

A weighbridge is a large platform scale set into the ground. The truck drives onto it and the machine records the total weight. The slip it prints is called kanta parchi in Hindi (kanta = scale, parchi = slip).
A slip normally shows a serial number, date and time, vehicle number, the weight, and often the party and material name. Three weights matter. Gross weight is the truck with the load. Tare weight is the empty truck (with driver and fuel as weighed). Net weight is gross minus tare, which is the weight of the goods. A truck is usually weighed twice, once loaded and once empty, and the two slips together give the net weight; some weighbridges print both on one slip.
It matters for three reasons. First, when freight is quoted per ton or per quintal, the net weight on the slip is what the freight is calculated from. Second, if the receiver later claims shortage, the loading slip and the unloading slip are compared. Third, the gross weight shows whether the truck is overloaded (see overloading and axle load).
The slip is only reliable if it is printed by the weighbridge operator from a real weighing on a verified weighbridge; weighbridges are required to be verified and stamped under the Legal Metrology Act. A slip must never be altered, re-typed or created without weighing the truck, and we do not provide a tool for that. If you doubt a slip, ask for a re-weighment at another weighbridge.

How to get a kanta parchi (kaise nikale)
- Drive the loaded truck onto the weighbridge platform and stop with all wheels on it.
- Give the operator the vehicle number and party or material name; the operator prints the slip (gross weight).
- After unloading, weigh the empty truck on the same weighbridge to get the tare weight slip.
- Net weight is gross minus tare. Keep both original slips with the bilty.
Practical Indian Freight Example
"A truck of wheat flour is weighed loaded at the mill: gross 28,400 kg. After unloading it is weighed empty: tare 9,900 kg. Net weight is 28,400 − 9,900 = 18,500 kg, or 18.5 tons. At an agreed freight of ₹1,200 per ton the freight is 18.5 × 1,200 = ₹22,200 (figures are for illustration)."
